Strong Start, Fast Finish, Top Age-Group Result David covered 5.00 km in 21:17, averaging 4:15/km. He finished 11th in the mens 4650 division and placed 490th of 5,624 overall, putting him well inside the top 10% of the field. In a large evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that is a solid competitive showing. His pacing was controlled early and sharpened late: 4:05, 4:17, 4:24, 4:24, then a quickest closing kilometre of 4:09. That rebound over the final kilometre was a strong sign of good finishing strength. The main opportunity is in the middle section, where kilometres 3 and 4 were 15 seconds slower than the opening kilometre. Holding a little more of that early rhythm through the centre of the race could move this performance forward.
