Steady 5K pacing with a strong move through 3K Paul ran 5.00 km in 26:21, averaging 5:16/km. His opening kilometre was 5:24, then he settled well with 5:10 in kilometre 2, his quickest split of the race. He followed that with consistent 5:15, 5:18 and 5:16 closing kilometres, showing good control across the full distance. The best trend came in the middle of the race: from 1K to 3K, he moved from 47th to 43rd in the M51-55 division and from 1814th to 1519th overall before giving back a few places late. Finishing 47th in his division and inside the top 29% overall of 5,624 runners is solid work. From a coaching view, the numbers suggest a touch more late-race pace after 3K could turn that mid-race gain into a stronger finish.
