Steady 5K with Consistent Closing Pace Martin ran 5.00 km in 28:19, averaging 5:39/km. He placed 62nd in the Male 5155 division and finished ahead of a large part of the 5,624-runner field. His opening kilometre was his quickest at 5:32, and he stayed close to that pace throughout. After 1 km, his splits settled into a very even pattern: 5:45, 5:45, 5:40, and 5:40. That consistency is a strong sign of control, especially in a fast evening 5K like Run The Wharf through Canary Wharf. The main opportunity is in the middle section: matching the opening kilometre more closely across km 23 could trim useful time while keeping the same solid finish.
