Fast finish and strong age-group result Dan ran 5.00 km in 19:52, averaging 3:58/km. He placed 6th in the Male 4650 division, 170th male, and 317th of 5,624 overall. That age-group placing stands out most, especially in a large field at this evening Canary Wharf 5K. His pacing was very controlled: 3:58, 4:06, 4:00, 3:59, then a fastest final kilometre of 3:51. After the slight dip in kilometre 2, he settled straight back to 4:00/km or better for the rest of the race and moved up from 406th to 317th overall. As a coachs note, the closing speed suggests a little more could be available by smoothing out kilometre 2 and committing earlier to that late-race rhythm.
