Fast Start, Steady Finish for a Strong 5K Tony ran 5.00 km in 21:07, averaging 4:13/km. He finished 38th in the mens 3640 division and inside the top 9% overall (473rd of 5,624), a strong result in a large evening field through Canary Wharf. His opening kilometre was the quickest at 4:02, and he reached 2 km in 8:12. From there, the middle of the race eased slightly with 3rd and 4th kilometres at 4:23 and 4:24, before he closed well with a 4:10 final kilometre. That late response was a positive sign. As a coaching note, a touch more restraint over the first 2 km could help keep the middle kilometres closer to the finish pace and support an even stronger overall time.
