In a Canary Wharf 5K built for quick evening running, that gave him a strong start and a sub-30 finish. His pacing trend was 5:32, 5:53, 6:18, 6:15, and 6:02 per km. The first 2 km were covered in 11:24, while the final 3 km took 18:34. He held position well through 4 km before a small drop in the last kilometre. As a coachs note, the key gain is in smoothing the gap between the opening kilometre and kilometres 3-4; a slightly more controlled first km could help him hold closer to 6:00/km deeper into the race.
