Strong Finish and Well-Paced 5K Ed ran 5.00 km in 21:37, averaging 4:19/km. He finished 546th of 5,624 overall, placing in roughly the top 10% of the field, and 64th in the male 3135 division. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, he improved position steadily across the race, moving from 656th at 1 km to 546th by the finish. His splits were consistent: 4:18, 4:15, 4:28, 4:26, and a fastest final kilometre of 4:11. That closing kilometre stands out and shows strong finishing speed. The main opportunity is the middle section, where pace eased from 4:15/km in the second kilometre to 4:28/km and 4:26/km in kilometres 3 and 4. Holding closer to early-race pace there could bring the overall time down further.
