Strong negative split with a fast closing 2K Louise ran 5.00 km in 27:56, averaging 5:35/km. She placed 23rd in the Female 4650 division out of a field of 5,624 overall. Her pacing improved each kilometre: 5:54, 5:42, 5:39, then 5:21 and 5:21 to close. That progression is the standout stat. She cut 33 seconds from first to last kilometre and moved from 33rd to 24th in her division by 2 km, then finished 23rd. The final 2 km at 5:21/km were 18 seconds per km quicker than her opening 3 km average. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that finish shows good control. Next step as a coach: aim to bring the opening kilometre a little closer to mid-race pace to unlock a few more seconds.
