The standout stat was his opening 4 km: 3:31, 3:35, 3:45 and 3:52, reaching 4 km in 14:41 at 3:40/km average. At that stage, he was running near the front of the field, sitting 133rd overall and 10th in his age group. The final kilometre shifted sharply to 11:05, which accounts for the gap between his strong early position and finishing result. That contrast is the key takeaway. The pace through 4 km shows strong speed, especially on a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf. For the next race, the clearest target is turning that first 4 km form into a more even full-5K effort.
