Fast 5K with Strong Mid-Race Control and Age-Group Podium Tommy ran 17:28 for 5.00 km, averaging 3:29/km. He finished 86th of 5,624, 18th male, and 2nd in the M3640 division. That age-group result stands out most. In a large field, he moved up steadily after 1 km and held position well late, a good fit for a fast evening 5K like Run The Wharf through Canary Wharf. His kilometre splits were 3:37, 3:26, 3:26, 3:34, and 3:27. After the opening kilometre, he settled quickly and covered the final 4 km in 13:51, averaging about 3:28/km. The only notable fade was from 3 km to 4 km, before a solid close. From a coaching view, the key gain is a slightly sharper first kilometre without disrupting that strong middle section.
