Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Sam Parker #2775 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Quick Opening Km Set Up a Solid 5K Sam ran 5.00 km in 32:34, averaging 6:31/km. His fastest kilometre was the first in 5:43, followed by 6:32, 6:44, 7:02, and a small rebound to 6:34 in the final kilometre. That gave him a 49-second gap between his fastest and slowest full kilometres, with a stronger close after km 4. In a field of 5,624, he finished 2,944th overall and 436th in the male 2630 division. The opening 3 km came through in 18:58 before pace eased over km 4, then recovered late. For a closed-road evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that opening speed stands out positively. As a coaching note, aiming for a steadier effort from km 2 to km 4 could help him turn that strong first kilometre into a faster overall result.
