Strong mid-race surge and steady closing pace Gus ran 5.00 km in 25:34, averaging 5:06/km. He placed 20th in the Male 55+ division and finished ahead of most of the field, placing 1413rd of 5624 overall. After a conservative opening kilometre of 6:14, he made his biggest move in km 2 with a 3:51 split, gaining places overall and in division. From 2 km onward, he settled into a controlled rhythm: 5:13, 5:13, and 5:05 for the final 3 km. That closing kilometre was his strongest sustained pace after the early surge and shows good finishing composure. For future races, a slightly quicker but still controlled first kilometre could help bring the overall time down while keeping this solid back-half consistency.
