Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Catarina Alves #5811 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Quick Opening Pace, Then a Mid-Race Fade Catarina completed the 5K in 33:43, averaging 6:44/km. She opened well with a fastest first kilometre of 6:06, then reached 2K in 12:38 at 6:19/km average. Through 3K, she was still holding 6:24/km overall before the pace eased in the final 2 kilometres. Her kilometre splits were 6:06, 6:32, 6:35, 7:21 and 7:12. That shows a 1:15 gap between fastest and slowest kilometres, with the biggest slowdown coming from 3K to 4K. A steadier effort after the sharp opening kilometre would likely help keep more pace late on. In a large field of 5,624, she finished 1,284th overall among women and 398th in the female 2630 category at this evening Canary Wharf 5K.
