Fast Start, Strong Finish for a Sub-26 5K Matt ran 5.00 km in 25:36, averaging 5:07/km. He placed 73rd in the male 4145 division and finished ahead of a large share of the 5,624-runner field. His opening kilometre was his quickest at 4:57, and he closed well with a 5:03 final kilometre, a good sign of maintained speed late in the race. The middle section was steady rather than fading: 5:10, 5:11 and 5:16/km across kilometres 24, before that late pickup. That pattern suggests solid control after a sharp start. As a coachs note, trimming a few seconds through kilometres 24 would likely move the overall time closer to 25 minutes. In an evening 5K built for pace through Canary Wharf, this was a well-managed run with a strong finish.
