Strong negative split with a fast closing kilometre Lauren Higgins completed the 5K in 31:54 for an average pace of 6:22/km. She covered the opening 3km very evenly in 6:34, 6:39 and 6:37, then picked up well over the final 2km with 6:14 and 5:51. That closing kilometre was 48 seconds quicker than her first, a clear negative split. She finished 69th in the Female 4145 division and 1094th female overall in a field of 5,624. Her position improved steadily through 4km, moving from 80th to 68th in her division before settling at 69th by the finish. For a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, the standout stat is the finish speed: averaging 6:03/km across the final 2km suggests there is scope to press a little earlier next time.
