Her pacing was steady through 4 km: 5:40, 5:27, 5:43, and 5:42 per km, then she closed fastest with a 5:12 final kilometre. That late surge improved her overall position from 2,088 at 1 km to 1,932 at the finish. This was a well-managed effort, especially the final kilometre, which was 28 seconds quicker than her average pace. The main opportunity is to bring a little more of that closing speed into the middle section, where kilometres 3 and 4 were slightly slower than kilometre 2. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, finishing this strongly is a useful sign for future races.
