Fast Start, Strong Closing Kilometre Matt ran 5.00km in 24:33, averaging 4:54/km. He finished 1171st of 5624, placing in roughly the top 21% overall. Among men, he was 769th, and 223rd in the male 2630 division. In a big Friday evening field through Canary Wharf, thats a solid return at just under 25 minutes. His pacing showed a quick opening 2km of 4:42 and 4:48, followed by 5:07 and 5:10 through the middle section, then a strong final kilometre in 4:47. That closing rebound is a good sign. The main opportunity is to smooth the gap between the early pace and the middle 2km; a slightly more controlled first kilometre could help hold sub-4:50/km deeper into the race.
