That gave her a 12:00 first 2 km versus 18:59 for the final 3 km, showing the strongest pace came early. In a field of 5,624, she finished 2,663rd overall and 987th among women. The clearest stat from this run is the gap between the opening kilometre and the later average pace of 6:18/km over the last 4 km. As a coachs note, a slightly more controlled first kilometre could help her hold closer to 6:10-6:15/km deeper into the race. Run The Wharfs closed-road evening 5K format suited a fast start, and she gave herself that chance.
