Fast Opening 2K Set Up a Solid 5K Finish Joshua ran 5.00 km in 23:16, averaging 4:39/km. He placed 870th of 5,624 overall, 561st among men, and 74th in the M36-40 division. His strongest section came early: 1K splits of 4:23 and 4:22 gave him a 2K mark of 8:45 at 4:22/km average pace. From 2K onward, the pace eased to 4:43, 5:03, and 4:46/km. That mid-race drop from 3K to 4K was the clearest shift and cost places, with overall position moving from 653rd at 2K to 870th at the finish. The positive is that he regained some rhythm in the final kilometre after the 4K split. For the next 5K, aiming to hold the early 2K effort more evenly through 4K would likely bring the overall average closer to his best pace on this fast Canary Wharf course.
