The pacing pattern was aggressive early: 4:01, 3:53, then 4:11, 4:14, and 4:06 per km. That gave him a strong position by 2 km, moving up from 379th at 1 km to 341st at 2 km. The main opportunity is to carry that km 2 speed deeper into the middle of the race, where the pace eased slightly. Closing the final kilometre in 4:06 was a solid response and a good sign for future 5K pacing.
