Fast Start, Strong Finish, Top 3% Overall Tom ran 5.00 km in 18:25, averaging 3:41/km at Run The Wharfs evening closed-road 5K in Canary Wharf. He finished 145th of 5,624, which put him in the top 3% overall. Within the male 3135 division, he placed 15th, and he was 49th among men. His pacing was sharp early: 3:30 for the first kilometre, then 3:41 and 3:42 across kilometres 2 and 3. The fourth kilometre was the slowest at 3:55, but he responded well with a 3:39 final kilometre to close strongly. From a coaching view, that late rebound is a good sign. The main opportunity is to hold kilometre 4 closer to his average pace, which would make this already solid 5K even more efficient.
