His quickest full kilometre was km 1 in 5:22, and he stayed tightly grouped after that with 5:30, 5:24, 5:37, and 5:28 splits. Through 3 km, he had moved up to 1,756th overall from 1,929th at 1 km. This was a controlled effort on a fast evening 5K course through Canary Wharf. The main stat to note is consistency: all five kilometres were covered within 15 seconds of each other. The only notable fade came at km 4, which cost some positions late. Focusing on holding the 3 km rhythm deeper into the race could help lower the overall time next time.
