Even pacing with a strong closing kilometre Richard Casey completed the 5K in 24:33, averaging 4:54/km across 5.00 km. He opened in 4:48, then ran 4:56, 5:01, 4:59, and closed with his second-fastest kilometre at 4:51. That gave him a tidy range of just 13 seconds between fastest and slowest full kilometres, a solid sign of control. He moved up from 1215th at 1 km to 1142nd by 3 km and held that position through 4 km before a small drop late, finishing 1169th of 5624. Among men, he placed 767th, and 221st in the M26-30 group. The rebound in the final kilometre stands out. As a coaching note, holding closer to that 4:48-4:51/km rhythm through the middle 2 km could trim more time next outing at this fast evening Canary Wharf race.
