Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Fergus Irvine #2547 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Fast Finish and Strong 5K Progression Fergus ran 5.00 km in 23:06, averaging 4:37/km. He placed 844th of 5,624 overall, 543rd male, and 164th in the M2630 division. His opening kilometre was 4:30, and he closed with his quickest kilometre at 4:22, a strong late-race lift that moved him up 74 places overall from 1 km to the finish. After 1 km, his middle section settled at 4:47, 4:45, and 4:44 before that final push. That gives him a 25-second negative split from km 1 to km 5, and his average from km 24 stayed very steady at about 4:45/km. In an event built for quick evening 5Ks through Canary Wharf, that controlled pacing plus the finishing kick stands out. For the next race, aim to hold a little more of that final-kilometre pace earlier in the middle kilometres.
