Strong opening kilometre and a sharp final response Dan covered 5.00 km in 26:11, averaging 5:14/km. His fastest kilometre was the first in 5:00, and he closed well with a 5:07 final kilometre after mid-race splits of 5:25 and 5:30. That gave him a quicker finish than both kilometres 3 and 4, a useful sign of late-race control. He placed 1,563rd of 5,624 overall, putting him in the top 28% of the field, and 282nd in the mens 2630 division. Position improved through 2 km, reaching 1,437th overall, before drifting slightly later on. As a coachs note, holding closer to the 5:055:11/km rhythm from the opening 2 km could bring a more even 5K. At this Friday Night Lights Canary Wharf race, the strong start and late pickup stood out.
