Fast Opening Kilometre Set Up a Strong Sub-20 5K Luke ran 5.00 km in 19:13, averaging 3:50/km. He placed 220th of 5,624 overall, 105th male, and 29th in the male 3135 division. His fastest kilometre was the opener in 3:41, and he stayed under 4:00/km for every kilometre. He also took part in the On Speed Zone segment. His pacing was controlled but slightly positive: 3:41, 3:49, 3:52, 4:00, 3:54 per km. That consistency through the final kilometre was a good sign after the quicker start. As a coachs note, a touch more restraint in the first kilometre could help him hold closer to 3:50/km deeper into the race. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, this was a solid performance with strong comparative placing in a very large field.
