Steady 5K with a Strong Final Kilometre Carmel covered 5.00 km in 34:57, averaging 6:59/km at Run The Wharf in Canary Wharf. She placed 72nd in the Female 4650 division out of a 5,624-runner field. Her opening kilometre was her quickest at 6:43, and she stayed close to 7:00/km through 3 km with splits of 7:03 and 7:03. The main slowdown came in kilometre 4 at 7:21, but she responded well with a 6:49 final kilometre, her second-fastest of the race. That late rebound is a useful marker of control and finishing strength. From a coaching perspective, the clearest opportunity is to hold kilometre 4 closer to her early-race rhythm; doing that would make this an even more consistent 5K effort.
