Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Jin Ha Hwang #4301 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Quick Opening, Then Pace Drift Across the 5K Jin Ha Hwang completed the 5K in 26:46, averaging 5:21/km. He opened sharply with a 4:52 first kilometre, then settled at 5:19, 5:26, 5:24, and 5:48/km. That early speed stood out, with his overall position at 1km sitting 310 places higher than at the finish. He finished 1,702nd of 5,624, placing in the top 31% overall. From a coaching view, the key stat is the 56-second gap between his fastest and slowest kilometres. A more even first half would likely support a stronger final kilometre and protect places late in the race. Through 4km he held 1,492nd, so most of the drop came in the last kilometre. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, the opening speed was promising; the next step is turning that into steadier pacing over the full distance.
