Fast Opening Kilometres Set Up a Solid 5K Arya ran 5.00 km in 26:35, averaging 5:19/km. He opened well with 4:55 for the first kilometre and reached 2 km in 9:58 (4:59/km average). That early pace moved him up to 1,272nd overall and 158th in the M18-25 division at 2 km, his best position in the race. From 2 km onward, his kilometre splits were 5:37, 5:27, and 5:35. That points to a strong start followed by a fade of 40 seconds per km from his opening split to his slowest. As a coachs note, aiming for a slightly steadier effort after 2 km could help him hold closer to 5:00-5:10/km deeper into the race. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, he still delivered a controlled sub-27-minute result.
