Strong negative split and fastest final kilometre He completed the 5K in 27:05, averaging 5:25/km. Among 5,624 runners, he finished 1,779th overall and 66th in the M46-50 division. In a fast evening city-centre race through Canary Wharf, his pacing was the standout stat: each kilometre got quicker, from 5:43/km in the first to 4:55/km in the fifth. His middle section built well, moving from 5:42/km at 2 km to 5:29/km at 3 km and 5:19/km at 4 km. That progression lifted him from 84th to 63rd in his age group by 4 km before finishing 66th. As a coachs note, this finish shows strong reserve late in the race; aiming to bring a little more of that effort into the opening 2 km could lower the overall time further.
