Strong Finish and Well-Paced 5K Progression Gary ran 5.00 km in 24:31, averaging 4:54/km. Among 5,624 finishers, he placed 42nd in the male 4650 division, with a clear late-race move through the field. His opening kilometre was 4:57, and he stayed close to that through 4 km with splits of 5:06, 5:00, and 4:56. The standout stat was the final kilometre: 4:34, his fastest of the race by 22 seconds compared with the first kilometre. He improved from 50th to 42nd in his age group between 1 km and the finish, and from 1,438th overall to 1,160th. That finishing speed suggests good reserve. As a coachs note, aiming to bring kilometre 2 closer to the pace of kilometres 3 and 4 could make the overall run even sharper at future evening 5Ks through Canary Wharf.
