Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Jack Welch #6290 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Strong finish with a well-paced final kilometre Jack ran 5.00 km in 27:24, averaging 5:28/km. He placed 216th in the Male 3135 category and finished ahead of roughly two-thirds of the 5,624 runners overall. His position improved through the race, moving from 2023rd at 1 km to 1861st at the finish, with similar gains in both gender and age-group standings. The pacing trend was solid: 5:29, 5:35, 5:41, 5:31, then a fastest final kilometre of 5:10. That closing split was 31 seconds quicker than his slowest kilometre and showed strong late-race execution. As coachs feedback: a slightly steadier middle section could help bring the overall time down further. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, finishing with your best kilometre is a very useful sign.
