Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Ben Dempsey #6248 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Fast Start, Strong Closing Kilometre Ben ran 5.00 km in 20:30, averaging 4:06/km. He finished 390th of 5,624, placing in the top 7% overall, and was 39th in the male 1825 division. In a large Friday-night Canary Wharf field, that is a solid result with good competitive depth. His opening kilometre was his quickest at 3:54, then he settled through 24 km at 4:05, 4:15 and 4:18. The standout stat is the final kilometre: 4:00, his best pace since the start, gaining 7 overall places and 4 division places late on. That finish suggests strong closing speed. For the next race, a slightly more even middle section could bring the overall average closer to the pace he showed at both the start and finish.
