Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Ilse Jimenez Varela #6455 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Even pacing with a strong final kilometre Ilse covered 5.00 km in 29:17, averaging 5:51/km. Her quickest kilometre was the opening 1 km in 5:32, and she closed well with a 5:48 final kilometre after middle splits of 6:04, 5:55, and 5:59. That finish was faster than both km 2 and km 4, a good sign of control across the distance. She placed 89th in the Female 3640 division and finished ahead of more than half the field overall, placing 2289th of 5624. Position stayed fairly steady through 4 km before a late drop in the final standings. For future races, trimming the second kilometre closer to her overall average could make the pacing even more efficient. Run The Wharfs evening closed-road 5K format suited a consistent effort like this.
