Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Marcus Kay #6324 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Fast Opening Kilometre Set Up a Solid 5K Marcus ran 5.00 km in 26:08, averaging 5:13/km. His quickest kilometre was the opener in 4:56, followed by 5:14, 5:30, 5:16 and 5:14. That gave him a strong start, then a steady closing three kilometres clustered within 16 seconds. He finished 183rd in the Male 1825 category. In a field of 5,624, he placed 1,553rd overall and 988th among men. The main performance marker was the gap between km 1 and km 3, where pace eased by 34 seconds. As a coachs note, holding km 2 and km 3 a little closer to the opening pace would likely bring the overall time down. On this fast evening Canary Wharf course, the consistent finish from km 3 to km 5 was a useful positive.
