Quick Start, Then Pace Drift Over the Final 3K David completed the 5K in 36:57, averaging 7:23/km. He placed 250th in the Male 3640 division and finished ahead of more than 2,100 runners overall in a field of 5,624. His strongest section came early: 1K in 6:12, followed by his fastest split at 6:02/km for the second kilometre, reaching 2K in 12:13 at 6:06/km average. From there, pace eased to 8:13, 9:07, and 7:24 for the final three kilometres. That shift moved him from 202nd to 250th in his division. The clearest coaching takeaway is pacing control: the opening 2K was well ahead of overall race pace, and a slightly steadier start would likely support a stronger final 3K. At Run The Wharf, a closed-road evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that early speed showed good intent.
