Fast Start, Solid Top-Quarter Finish Thomas ran 5.00 km in 25:31, averaging 5:06/km. He placed 1401st of 5624 overall, putting him in roughly the top 25% of the field, and 259th in the mens 2630 division. His quickest kilometre was the opening 1 km in 4:51, and he reached 2 km in 9:51 at 4:55/km. From there, his pace shifted to 5:14/km for the third kilometre and 5:24/km for the fourth, before he closed well with a 5:03 final kilometre. That late rebound is a useful positive on a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf. As a coachs note: holding the 2 km rhythm a little deeper into the middle section would likely move this result forward, because the finishing speed was clearly there.
