Strong finish and steady 5K pacing He completed the 5K in 24:26, averaging 4:53/km across 5.00 km. In a field of 5,624, he finished 1,150th overall and 64th in the Male 4145 division. His pacing was controlled: 1st km in 4:47, then 4:59 and 5:05 through 3 km, before responding well with a 4:54 4th km and his fastest closing kilometre in 4:43. That final kilometre was a standout and showed strong finish speed. He also improved his overall position from 1,196th at 1 km to 1,150th at the line. For future races, aiming to hold closer to opening pace through the middle kilometres could bring the overall time down further. On a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, finishing quickest in the last kilometre is a very useful sign.
