Fast Finish and Strong Closing Kilometre He completed the 5K in 30:48, averaging 6:09/km. Among 5,624 finishers, that placed him in the top 47% overall. His quickest kilometre was the last one in 5:51/km, a strong way to close an evening 5K through Canary Wharfs closed roads. His pacing showed a fast opening kilometre of 5:59, then a steadier middle section of 6:19, 6:28 and 6:13 before that late pickup. That finishing speed suggests good closing strength. As a coachs note, the main opportunity is to smooth out kilometres 24 so they stay closer to his opening and finishing pace; that would help turn this solid run into a quicker overall 5K.
