Fast Start and Strong Top-8% Finish David ran 5.00 km in 20:55, averaging 4:11/km. He finished 439th of 5,624, placing him inside the top 8% overall, and 35th in the mens 3640 division. His opening kilometre was his quickest at 3:59, and he reached 3 km in 12:21 at 4:07/km average. From there, the pace stayed close: 4:21 for km 4 and 4:14 for km 5. That consistency limited the slowdown after a fast first kilometre and kept him competitive throughout a large field. As a coaching note, a slightly more even first 2 km could help him hold closer to 4:10/km deeper into the race. In an evening 5K built for speed through Canary Wharf, this was a well-executed run.
