Steady 5K with strong middle kilometres Chris ran 5.00 km in 20:33, averaging 4:06/km. He finished 398th of 5,624 overall, placing him in roughly the top 7.1% of the field. Among men, he was 229th, and he placed 40th in the male 1825 division. In a large Friday-evening Canary Wharf field, that is a solid result backed by consistent pacing. His kilometres were 4:13, 4:02, 4:11, 4:02, and 4:07. The quickest work came in kilometres 2 and 4, both at 4:02, and he improved from 62nd to 40th in his age group across the race. The pacing spread was just 11 seconds from fastest to slowest, showing good control. As a coachs note, a slightly sharper opening kilometre could help him make use of that strong mid-race speed earlier.
