Fast Start, Strong Top-8% Finish Thomas ran 5.00 km in 20:45, averaging 4:09/km. He finished 424th of 5,624, which puts him in roughly the top 8% overall, and 53rd in the Male 3135 division. His best position came at 2 km, where he had moved up to 388th overall after opening with 4:00 and 4:04 kilometres. His pacing was solid through the full distance: 4:00, 4:04, 4:15, 4:18, and 4:10 per km. That quick first 2 km gave him a strong platform, and he still closed the final kilometre faster than kilometres 3 and 4. As a coachs note, a slightly more even middle section could help him hold those early gains deeper into the race. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, this was a sharp performance.
