Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Kieron Smart #6358 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Strong negative split with a fast closing kilometre Kieron ran 5.00 km in 24:03, averaging 4:48/km. He finished 1065th of 5624, placing in the top 19% overall. His pacing improved each kilometre: 5:05, 5:00, 4:58, 4:46, then a fastest final kilometre of 4:16. That is a 49-second improvement from first to last kilometre. He moved up steadily through the field, gaining 442 places overall from 1 km to the finish, including 53 spots in the last kilometre alone. In his age group, he improved from 185th at 1 km to 132nd at the line. For a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, this was a well-controlled effort. As a coachs note, starting 510 seconds per km quicker while keeping this strong finish could bring the overall time down further.
