Fast close and top-10 overall finish He covered 5.00 km in 14:42, averaging 2:56/km, and finished 7th overall out of 5,624. He also placed 7th in the Male Elite field and 3rd in Male Elite 1825. Through 4 km, his splits stayed very even at 2:57, 2:59, 2:58 and 3:00, showing strong control at the front of a deep field. The standout stat was the final kilometre: 2:50, his quickest of the race, which moved him from 8th to 7th overall. He was as high as 2nd in his age division at 3 km and 4 km before finishing 3rd. That closing speed is a strong asset; the main coaching point is to look for a little more in kilometres 24 so the finish surge can build even more separation in a fast evening 5K.
