Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Ellis Garamszegi #5349 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Strong finish secures elite age-group win Ellis covered 5.00 km in 14:51, averaging 2:58/km. He finished 9th overall out of 5,624 and won the Male Elite 2630 division, a notable result in a large field. In the Canary Wharf evening 5K, he stayed inside 3:00/km overall and closed with one of his best segments. His pacing was controlled early: 2 km in 5:54, then 3 km in 8:55. The middle section eased slightly, with 4 km reached in 12:00, before he responded with a fastest final kilometre of 2:52 to move from 11th to 9th overall and from 4th to 1st in his division. That closing speed is the key stat here. For future races, maintaining a little more of the early rhythm through kilometres 34 could help turn a strong finish into an even faster overall time.
