Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence
Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Joe Church #6645 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K
Strong finish with a well-executed negative split Joe covered 5.00 km in 24:38, averaging 4:55/km. In a field of 5,624, he finished 1,190th overall, 779th among men, and 226th in the mens 2630 division. Running for Savannah Energy, he improved his position through the race, moving from 1,432nd at 1 km to 1,190th at the line. His pacing was notably steady early, with 1 km splits of 5:00, 5:04 and 5:01, before lifting well over the closing 2 km with 4:56 and then 4:38. That final kilometre was his quickest by 22 seconds versus race-average pace, a strong sign of control and finishing speed. On this fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, the main opportunity next time is to bring that late-race pace forward a little earlier.
