Strong negative split with a fast closing kilometre Pip ran 5.00 km in 23:03, averaging 4:36/km. She finished 9th in the Female 3640 division, 164th female, and 831st overall out of 5,624. Her pacing improved each kilometre: 4:53, 4:41, 4:37, 4:33, then a quickest final kilometre of 4:21. That progressive effort was the key stat of the race. She moved from 22nd to 9th in her age group by the finish, gaining places steadily through 4 km and then again in the last kilometre. On a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, this was a well-judged run. For an even stronger result next time, aiming to bring the opening kilometre a little closer to overall pace could unlock a few more seconds.
