Fast finish and a beautifully judged half Taylor ran an outstanding Half Marathon in 1:10:48, averaging 5:24 per mile and finishing 5th overall out of 3,607. What stands out most is how well he built the race: after a 36:15 first half at 5:32 pace, he came home in 34:33 at 5:16 pace. That kind of negative split on this course shows real patience early and real strength once the road starts leading runners into town. He stayed steady through the opening miles, mostly between 5:21 and 5:32, then kept pressing harder late. His final 5K was especially sharp, with miles of 5:15, 5:11, and 5:03, plus a 5:00 pace over the last 0.1. The fourth quarter was his best by far at 16:56, compared with 17:51 in the first and 18:25 in the second. That is a strong, smart day all the way through.
