Division win built on poise and a fast finish Riley ran an excellent St. George Marathon, winning the M45-49 division in 2:29:51 at 5:43 per mile. What stands out most is how well he managed the whole day. He opened with real purpose, covering the first 7 miles between 5:11 and 5:32 pace, then handled the Veyo climb at miles 8 and 9 in 6:24 and 6:45 without letting the race get away from him. From there, he settled right back in. His third quarter was 38:20, and his fourth was even better at 37:22, a strong sign of strength coming down into town. Miles 24 and 25 were especially sharp at 5:37 and 5:39, and he still had a 5:07 pace over the final 0.2. The second half was just 1:32 slower than the first, a remarkably steady way to run 26.2 miles.
