Masters win built on a brilliant second half Pedro turned in a terrific St. George Marathon, finishing in 2:25:01 at 5:32 per mile and claiming 1st in the masters division. What stands out most is how well he raced the back half: after 1:14:09 for the first 13.1, he came home in 1:10:52, a strong negative split with a 5:24 pace over the second half. He handled the Veyo climb with composure, absorbing 6:23 and 6:11 miles at 8 and 9, then steadily got back to work. From mile 15 on, the rhythm sharpened again with a 4:57 at mile 16, a 5:07 at mile 21, and 5:12 and 5:13 at miles 23 and 25. His final quarter was his fastest of the day at 35:08, averaging 5:21 pace, which says a lot about the strength he carried down into town.
